Forty Mile Detour Mark Yampolsky is a singer-songwriter whose original music is a soulful blend of the Americana and Folk Rock genres. He enjoys sharing his music and the stories that wrap around each of the tunes. A lifelong musician, he was given his first guitar and began playing music at a young age. During his school years he played in various bands throughout the northeast and while attending the University of Maryland he was part of a duo that performed at coffee houses and campus venues. Several years ago the lead singer of a local contemporary country band heard him and Mark was recruited to play guitar and mandolin in the band. Currently Mark performs around the Charleston area as a solo singer-songwriter as well as in various duo / trio acts. He also spends time in Nashville collaborating with regional songwriters and promoting his original music. Current projects include a music-publishing contract in Los Angeles and a song-writing deal with a film production company.
Mark’s debut CD “Forty Mile Detour” was released In 2010. The project was written and recorded in Charleston and was produced by Jay Clifford, the former lead singer with the band Jump Little Children.
