We are not looking at “someday” at the “C”, we are looking at today.  This week we are everywhere, including EarthFare in Summerville on Friday, doing a coffee tasting. We will also be at digsouth.com Wednesday and Thursday, come check out the digital economy.  


What is happening this week you ask…

Farmers Markets abound here in South Carolina.  Join us at any of the markets listed below and shop from your friends and neighbor.  Enjoy the free range chicken eggs, antibiotic and hormone free chicken, pork, and beef; find some local produce or seafood.  Shop with local artisans as well. Oh, and of course you will always find the freshest roasted coffee by the cup or the pound, fresh cold pressed Ice Coffee, hand crafted sodas, and house made Kombucha tea at our booth at either of these locations.  Just follow that fabulous smell.

4/28-Thursday Open Mic Night hosted byFleming Moore 7pm-9:30pm   Come on out and experience something new and exciting every week.  Talented musicians from all over the area come and share their gifts and flair with you the audience. You never know who will show up.

4/29-Mark Mason 7pm-9pm - Singer - Songwriter - Guitarist. Recently relocated from the mountains of upstate New York to Summerville, continuing his way of life for forty two years now. Mark will be performing Folk Music, classic standards and his newly composed original folk songs about the history, legends and folklore of the Charleston/Lowcountry area. 4/30 Saturday Solar Cooking on the Street 9am-6pm This will be Roots to Freedom's First Annual Solar Cook Off event! There will be live music from 10-4 as well as demonstrations of building the solar ovens and live art. Each ticket purcahased will provide you with a sample of each food being cooked, from each separate cooker. We will be raffling off 3 solar cookers! There will be lots of food, music and art as well as learning about what all Roots to Freedom is doing and exciting new partnerships. 

Tom Strickland 7pm-9pm Tom is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Glasgow West Virginia (about 25 miles east of Charleston).  Tom started playing guitar taught to him by his mother as a teenager.  He soon joined his first band and started playing at local bars and restaurants in the Charleston area.  He discovered his love for song writing and even had a local hit on the radio back in the 70’s.  He has been compared to John Denver and James Taylor.  He has been referred to as “the walking juke box”, because he can usually perform just about anything requested by his audience. Tom moved to Ladson South Carolina back in 2000 and has enjoyed performing with local musicians as well as a solo artist.
